Blur of Being by Raoul Korzuschek Detail

Raoul Korzuschek (b. 1991 in Hamburg, Germany) is contemporary painter based in the woods of Sorrento, Canada.

Grounded in the theme of finitude, his works deliberately reject permanence. The human figures within these pieces blur into abstraction, mirroring the ephemeral nature of life. In his current body of work, Korzuschek captures the bittersweet feeling of beauty, once present, now barely visible.

Reimagining the painting’s surface as a layering of histories, visible scratches expose underlayers, suggesting that what we see is just a snapshot in time and part of a larger narrative. By intentionally creating works that fade, Korzuschek hopes to inspire a deeper appreciation for the present.
